The Punjab government has taken another big step to help people deal with high electricity bills. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the CM Punjab Solar Panel Scheme 2025 has started distributing solar panels to deserving families across the province.
This project, officially called the Roshan Gharana Program, aims to give free solar systems to low-income families. These families are usually unable to afford expensive electricity, and this scheme is giving them a clean and affordable alternative – solar energy.
Purpose of the Scheme
The main goal of this programme is to reduce electricity costs for poor households and promote green energy in Punjab. Many families struggle with high electricity bills every month. Through this scheme, the government is helping those who use less electricity by giving them solar panel systems for free.
By encouraging solar energy, the province is also working to reduce pressure on the national grid and lower harmful carbon emissions. It’s a win-win situation: lower bills for families and a cleaner environment for everyone.
What is Being Given?
The Punjab government is not just giving a few panels — each selected home is being provided a complete solar system that can run lights, fans, and small appliances.
Each package includes:
-
2 solar panels (300W each)
-
Battery (at least 150Ah)
-
1.5KW inverter
-
Complete wiring and structure frame
This system can help families run basic electricity needs without worrying about monthly bills.
August 2025: Distribution Progress
The scheme was started in August 2024 and is being carried out in phases. By August 2025, the third phase has begun, and distribution is happening in more cities and rural areas.
Let’s take a look at the progress:
Phase | Time Period | Number of Systems | Cities Covered |
---|---|---|---|
Phase 1 | Aug–Dec 2024 | 20,000 | Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi |
Phase 2 | Jan–Jul 2025 | 30,000 | Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur |
Phase 3 | Aug–Dec 2025 | 50,000 (Expected) | Sahiwal, Sargodha, other areas |
By now, more than 50,000 systems have already been distributed, and the government is on track to reach its goal of 100,000 homes.
Who Is Getting the Systems?
This scheme is made for deserving and low-income families. People who use less than 300 units of electricity per month are being selected. Most of these families are unable to manage rising electricity bills and rely on fans and bulbs for their daily use.
Only homes with electricity bills registered on the applicant’s CNIC are eligible. The focus is on helping real families — not shops or factories.
Which Cities Are Covered?
As of August 2025, solar panel distribution has been done or is ongoing in the following cities:
-
Lahore – Completed
-
Bahawalpur – Completed
-
Multan – Ongoing
-
Faisalabad – About to start
-
Rawalpindi & Sargodha – Starting in August 2025

Why This Scheme Matters
Electricity prices in Pakistan have increased in recent years. For many families, paying the monthly bill is a big challenge. This solar panel scheme is not just about saving money — it’s also about bringing peace of mind and improving quality of life.
Families that were living in darkness due to load shedding or unaffordable bills can now enjoy basic electric appliances without worry.
Final Words
The CM Punjab Solar Panel Scheme 2025 is truly a ray of light for thousands of homes across the province. With clean, free energy and no more stress about rising bills, this programme is helping Punjab move toward a brighter and greener future.
The government deserves appreciation for launching such a helpful and meaningful project. As more cities are added to the list in the coming months, more and more families will benefit.
If you live in Punjab and meet the requirements, this scheme might soon bring light to your home too.
